Annorlunda bokrea. / Different book-sale.

Den 24 februari och framåt är som bekant (i Sverige) en tid för bokrea. De flesta bokhandlare har i stort sett samma sortiment (kolla in allas utbud vad det gäller lexikon till exempel). Så vi som vill mer får åka buss, bil, tåg, cykel eller vad det än må vara, för att ta oss till Science Fiction Bokhandeln. I mitt fall blir det tåg från Landskrona till Malmö, därifrån buss 8 till hållplats Davidshall, följt av en mindre promenad i motsatt körriktning för bussen (alltså gå tillbaka en bit).

Idag tänkte jag "hänga på låset". Det fanns ett par titlar som jag var ute efter och det är alltid svårt att veta hur många butiken har på lager innan dessa är helt slutsålda. Så ca 9.50 stod jag utanför dörren och försökte hålla värmen. Fortfarande rätt kallt om morgonen här. Först var det bara 2 till människor som hade trotsat vädret/skolkat jobbet/var arbetslösa eller på något sätt rättfärdigade att de/vi befann oss utanför denna butik tidigt på en vardag. Men sedan fylldes det på och precis innan de släppte in horden var vi nog närmare 10 personer.

Dörren öppnades lite efter 10.00 och alla gick in rätt städat utan armbågar. Däremot mutade människor in en viss sektion rätt tidigt. Butiken hade rea uppdelat i olika sektioner var för sig, rätt smart. En hylla för science fiction, en för brädspel, en för prylar och så vidare. Det galnaste var nog med en kille som hade satt sig inne på brädspelssektionen och roffat åt sig 7-8 spel som han vände och vred på för att bestämma sig ifall han skulle ha dem. Som ett barn på julafton; "dessa julklappar är MINA!". Innan det var färdigt hade han köpt hela 5 spel i 299 SEK - 499 SEK klassen! Och de priserna var reapriser.

Efter insläppet vällde det in folk. Det blev aldrig helt trångt. Men det var inte heller mycket manövreringsutrymme. Inga armbågar eller så, fantastikvänner känns väldigt artiga (till skillnad från dem som besöker barnloppisar... aj aj aj.). Det var ungefär 2 rader av människor som betraktade rean, de längst fram som i mångt hade bestämt sig för några böcker, och de som stod bakom den första raden och liksom spanade in läget. När någon på bakersta raden verkade ha bestämt sig klev denne fram till första raden, då stegade ofta någon från främre raden bakåt. Och ... ja, ni förstår läget.

När jag väl hade funnit mina 2 böcker och skrapat ihop tillräckligt skumt gratismaterial fick jag hålla mig från att impulsköpa. Det är så lätt hänt. Istället betraktade jag de andra som var på jakt. En del hade tagit kundkorgar som var fyllda till bredden med böcker och annat. Andra stod och diskuterade olika författare eller karaktärer som författarna hade fantiserat ihop, men som behandlades i diskussionerna som "verkliga" personer. Fascinerande.

Ifall du gillar böcker, gillar rea och inte räds att ta tiden att åka in till Malmö (ifall du bor i Skåne, den närmaste butiken ligger nämligen där i så fall.), passa på nu för att finna böcker som är lite utöver det vanliga i prisklasser mellan 10 SEK - 99 SEK.

För många brädspel på rea. / Too many boardgames on sale.

The 24th of February and onward (in Sweden), it's time for book sale. Most book-shops carry pretty much the same assortment (check out what they offer - for example concerning dictionaries). So us who wants something more need to go by bus, car, train, bike or whatever means necessary to get to Science Fiction Bokhandeln (The Science Fiction Book Store). In my case it means train from Landskrona to Malmö, from there bus 8 to bus stop Davidshall, followed by a small walk in opposite direction for the bus.

 Jag hade hoppats på mer icke-fiktion på rean. / I was hoping for more non-fiction at the sale.

Today I thought I'd hang at the shop early. There were a few titles that I wanted and it's always hard to know how many copies a shop carries before they are sold out. So at 9.50 I stood by the door trying to stay warm. It's still a bit cold outside in the mornings. First there were 2 additional people defying the wheather/skipping work/being unemployed or for some reason justifying their/our presence outside this shop early on a work-day. But people kept coming and just before they let in the horde we were close to 10 people.

The door opened a bit after 10.00 and things went smooth without people using their elbows. On the other hand people claimed a certain section pretty early on. The shop had divided their sale in different sections, each to their own. One shelf for science fiction, one for board-games, one for gadgets and so on. The craziest thing was one guy striding into the board-games section. He had grabbed 7-8 games in a pile which he turned around and examining carefully. Like a child at Christmas; "these presents are MINE!". Before it all was finished he had bought no less than 5 games in the 299 SEK - 499 SEK price range! And those prices were sale prices.

After the door had opened people came out of nowhere. It never got totally crammed. But there was no good room for movability either. No elbows, as I said, fans of Fantasy feel rather polite in that regard (in the opposite to childrens' flea markets... ouch, ouch, ouch.). There were about 2 rows at each section monitoring the sale, those in the front which in many ways had spotted something they wanted, and the back row sort of eagle-eying things. When someone in the back row seemed to have come to a decision they stepped up to the front row, then someone there did an exit right and or back. And... well, you get the picture.

Once I had found my 2 books and collected enough shady freebies I really had to control myself to not do any last-minute shopping. It happens so easily. Instead I observed my fellow book-hunters. Some had grabbed a shopping-basket and filled it to the rim with books and stuff. Others stood immersed in discussion concerning different authors or characters which the authors had created, as if those characters were "real" people. Fascinating.

If you like books, like sales and is not deterred by the time it takes to go to Malmö (in case you live in Scania, the closest shop is there in that case.), make a move to find books a bit out of the ordinary in prices ranging from 10 SEK - 99 SEK.
